1. Filing;

Season with, marjoram, salt and pepper to taste, add grout meat and cook over medium heat until it browns. Next add chopped tomatoes. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to marry and the vegetables to soften.

2. Mashed potatoes;

While the meat mixture is simmering, you can prepare the mashed potatoes. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and add the diced potatoes. Cook them for about 15 minutes or until they are tender and easily pierced with a fork. Drain the potatoes, then mash until they are smooth.

3. Assembling casserole;

When the meat mixture and mashed potatoes are ready, transfer half of the mashed potatoes in to a baking dish and spread the meat filling evenly on top of it. Follow by the rest of the mashed potatoes.

Sprinkle shredded cheese on the mashed potatoes, which will result in a nice golden crust after baking. Place the dish in the preheated oven and let it bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden.

  • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and add the diced potatoes. Cook for about 15 minutes, or until tender when pierced with a fork.
  • To a large skillet or frying pan, add the chopped onion and carrot and cook for a few minutes until softened. Season with marjoram, salt and pepper.
  • Add ground meat, cook over medium heat until browned.
  • Stir in the diced tomato. Let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Drain the potatoes and mash until smooth.
  • To assemble the dish, layer half of the mashed potatoes in a greased baking dish, followed by the meat mixture, and then the remaining mashed potatoes.
  • Sprinkle with cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-45 minutes, or until the cheese is golden.
