Ingredients
  

  • 4 boneless pork chops
  • 2 large onions thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon low-fat sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 ½ cups chicken broth
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp granulated garlic
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp Black pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp Zaatar for seasoning
  • Fresh herbs for topping (such as parsley)

Instructions
 

  • Season the pork chops with salt, granulated garlic, paprika, black pepper, and zaatar.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the pork chops and sear them until golden brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  • Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the sliced onions.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until they become soft and golden brown, about 5-10 minutes.
  • Add chicken broth to the skillet with onions.
  • Return the seared pork chops to the skillet.
  • Cover and simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes, or until the pork is cooked through.
  • In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and sour cream with a little of cold water. Add 2 tbsp of hot pork chop water/broth.
  • Stir in the cornstarch - sour cream slurry.
  • Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
  • Plate the pork chops topped with the caramelized onion sauce.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs for a pop of color and flavor.
  • Serve over mashed potatoes or rice with some greens.
