Yogurt Bagel Delights: A New Twist on a Classic

If you’ve ever thought about making your own bagels but felt overwhelmed by the process, you’re in for a treat. This yogurt bagels are incredibly easy to whip up!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup plain low fat yogurt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tsp everything bagel seasoning optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  • Add the yogurt to the dry ingredients. Stir with a spoon or spatula until a sticky dough forms.
  • Lightly flour a clean surface and turn the dough out onto it. Knead the dough for about 2–3 minutes until it becomes smooth and slightly elastic.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then use your fingers to poke a hole in the center (about 1–2 inches wide) to form a bagel shape. Make sure the hole is not too small, as it may close up during baking.
  • In a small bowl, beat the egg. Brush the egg wash over the tops of the bagels for a beautiful golden finish.
    Optional: Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning for extra flavor.
  • Place the bagels on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until they are lightly golden brown.
  • Let the bagels cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them plain, or with your favorite toppings like cream cheese, smoked salmon, or fresh vegetables.

Notes
