- 1 cup plain low fat yogurt
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 egg for egg wash
- 1 tsp everything bagel seasoning optional
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
Add the yogurt to the dry ingredients. Stir with a spoon or spatula until a sticky dough forms.
Lightly flour a clean surface and turn the dough out onto it. Knead the dough for about 2–3 minutes until it becomes smooth and slightly elastic.
Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then use your fingers to poke a hole in the center (about 1–2 inches wide) to form a bagel shape. Make sure the hole is not too small, as it may close up during baking.
In a small bowl, beat the egg. Brush the egg wash over the tops of the bagels for a beautiful golden finish. Optional: Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning for extra flavor. Place the bagels on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until they are lightly golden brown.
Let the bagels cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them plain, or with your favorite toppings like cream cheese, smoked salmon, or fresh vegetables.
